As a professional motorcycle restorer with many concourse trophies for my work, I have always found it a risk to easily and efficiently transport motorcycles without some potential for damage to forks seals and paintwork.
It was with delight that I came across the Motolug collapsible motorcycle trailer which provides the convenience of a trailer that can be easily dismantled and placed into the boot of the car whilst at a concourse or event. Alternately, when unhitched the trailer provides a stand to display or enable working on your bike of the ground.
Its versatility recently proven during a family road trip behind the motor-home, carrying a 230kg motorcycle over 2,000kms along the east coast of Australia and up into mountain country on freeway and ‘B’ type roads. I found the trailer incredibly balanced and light to tow with little or unmeasurable increase in fuel consumption. The trailer allowed us to split up during the journey, me on my bike and my wife driving the motor-home without the concern of towing the trailer after we stowed it in the boot.

The trailer went on the trip to PI – it went really well and I can’t believe how stable it feels. It also has been getting a bit of a work out this week – picked up a Kawasaki KLR650 for my brother in law on Wednesday and took my R90/6 to Cheltenham on it today. Both were much easier to load than the RGS and the trailer handled impeccably again on both jobs. B.
